Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel authority, helping people discover the heart of destinations. I led the platform redesign to more intentionally serve users across mobile apps and www.lonelyplanet.com.

Mobility is core to travel. And we were eager to extend our Guides mobile app (Editors’ Choice on Google Play and Apple’s App store) to wearables for travelers “on the ground”. We started with a partnership with Samsung to enable glanceable utility for the Gear s3 watch and our Android users.
We enabled the discovery of top experiences, contextual to the traveler’s location. Users could see relevant info, access saved places, and get directions to “must-see” points of interest.
To further carry the brand ethos, we designed a series of dynamic watch faces utilizing location services. The set features destination photos, sun position, and ambient world clock.
Neighborhoods have a huge impact on how people organize their time while visiting a destination.
Need-to-know info was housed in tabulated sections in our Guides app for quick perusing. And minimal list creation tools enabled travelers to collect, organize, and share their favorite content.
A modular homepage was designed to give editors a quick ability to change featured content. This helped surface the top content on the site, including helpful lists and articles.
I design digital experiences for customers.
